The universal experience of grief and the ephemerality of life is something we will all have to confront. Recently I have been exploring my own personal experience of grief and how I can articulate this through my painting practice. To describe this emotional complexity through painting I use a variety of mark making techniques. With fluid mark-making and layers of loose washes of oil paint I create melancholic abstractions and intriguing dreamlike landscapes, which endeavour to convey a feeling of longing and loss as I attempt to externalise my internal emotional landscape
